avid juicy carbon disc brakes...I fixed 'em

+1 for saints 8) Nearly as good as my C'2 were
And my tech X2's are now bedding in after a serious roasting on the blowlamp[on the pads of course  ]
But i cant as yet recommend them either way as i havent really had a chance to use them when it matters.

This is all good guys but I do not want brick weight downhill brakes I am after something that works but is v.light as well.......
I think I will go back to v's

Then look no further than Magura Martas then - light, reliable, powerful, use mineral oil.
Everything a brake should be.
I have them on two of my bikes and they're the dog's bollocks

I've had Saints in the past and they are very powerful but a little porky. I now run Formula brakes- older B4 Racing on my Fat Chance and 'The Ones' on my Cotic Soul. Formula brakes are brilliant. The Ones are a pain to bleed properly but once done you can forget them. Power and modulation is superb on 180mm rotors and they are very light. R1 are even better. Not cheap but a good investment IMO.

I have Juicy Ultimates on two bikes and both are superb stoppers. They are the same as Juicy Carbons but with magnesium bodies. Are they correctly bled? If they have any air in them they are rubbish. Also I've heard of some leaking fluid from the lever near the cap, this can cause air to enter.

To be honest I have bled the front one recently and it is better than it was but the back will not lock the wheel up no matter what  If you can give me any tips for bleeding this then please help  If I wind the pad adjuster in it makes a minimal improvement but it then does not let the lever back out fully  So guessing there is some air in there.I used to have the first gen.formula discs c 1998 and the back one of them was always a pain in the a... as well.

bleed them again mate then de grease everything including the rotor with disc brake cleaner and make sure your pads are completly clean no crap then go bed them in properly that might be the problem

the higher the avid up the chain the more attention they need when bleeding as well no ham fistedness ok
