New Fangled Hope Disc Brakes…

So, I’ve been using these for a while now, there’s one thing I don’t like…
Hopefully you can help me sort it out.
There’s next to no lever travel, the pads run so close to the discs that they’re on as soon as I touch the levers.
I tried pushing the pistons back but they just make there way back to the same position, and run very close to the discs. I’d prefer the pads to retract more, so there’s a little more lever travel.
Is this possible?
I’ve now got some Shimano discs on another bike and the lever stroke feels nicer to me, and the pads retract further away from the discs.
Any advice welcome.

There might be a wee bit too much fluid in the system not allowing the pistons to retract fully. Had the same problem with Hope brakes, and others too. Happens sometimes when brakes have previously been bled with pads/pistons too close to disc, worn pads can cause it too when new pads take up the gap that was there with the worn ones.
What I've done is very carefully open bleed nipple slightly then if the system has too much fluid a small amount will come out, make sure to use a rag to catch fluid. Pushing the pads/pistons in a wee bit while bleed nipple is open will give more clearance between pads and disc. Doesn't take much, so be careful.
