First day of Autumn today, can't believe the summer is over already! Although we've certainly had a better summer this year compared to the last few, it still seems to have finished before it really ever got started. The worst is yet to come when the clocks change.
How many would like to stay on BST? I know it has been debated many times before, I think this year it has also been debated in parliament. RAC statistics seem to think fewer people will die through road traffic accidents if we stayed on BST throughout the winter. I know I'd much rather stay on BST, dark in the mornings I can cope with, getting home when it's dark is just depressing and you can't get anything done.

Double-edged sword for me . . . only ridden a couple of times through the Summer and the Autumn means that seaside areas become far less populated.. which is so much nicer..

its not too bad for me, i work outdoors so get to see daylight, but finishing work at 4pm and spending all your free time in darkness soon gets to you......

hence i want some awesome lights this year, i barely rode a bike last winter, and im also getting another night vision device for when im walking the dog, used to have a £3,000 gen 3 monocular 5yrs ago and i used to love the dark nights then!

Interesting that we trialed staying on BST from 27 October 1968 to 31 October 1971. Was this around the time of the "fictitious" media driven school bus crash story in Scotland that quicly halted the trail?

I hadn't realised we went to british double summer time during the war.

It's been dark when I've been getting home for while now.
Not only is the dark depressing, it's the constant dampness and cold feet that gets me down. I don't think changing the clocks will make any difference. If Parliament had any backbone it would abolish winter all together.

I'm already looking forward to complaining about nettles, overgrown trails, hayfever, 4:00am dawn chorus' and sweat rash already.

Worse than the darkness for me is When the tree's lose their leaves, it just depresses me big time to see everything so bleak and bare
