I've just bought a set of DX thumbies that were £19 buy it now with free shipping - I just couldnt list these as I needed a set.

Good score! But I'm thinking more about the rare stuff, the stuff that most of us know that when we look in our wallets we can never afford and that when they appear they always go for high money. I watch loads of stuff just for the hell of it, I would love to own it but know that it will get priced out of my range and so don't mind posting it.

maybe its a selfish view... but why would anyone advertise something that they would be bidding for?? I dont doubt for a sec that other people have prob picked up on it but still .... Sticking a bloody flashing beacon on it would be madness .... I always flag up things that I think could be of interest but normally its something GT so I just tell Pickle!!

Don't think it would make a difference outing that. It's going to go for silly money no matter what.

Don't like the ? mark in the title and description.

Edit: I would never out something I wanted to buy, that would just be silly.

Not too sure about outing spelling errors. I was after a flite for 6 months. There was no way I was going to pay the £30+ that good ones go for. Eventually one came up where the seller couldn't spell flite, selle or italia. £8 bargain for me. I feel I earnt it though, wouln't have been too impressed if everyone had "found" it.

I think you're right about not outing something you are going to bid on but then I know what items go for and if I can afford them and so can gauge accordingly. I know I couldn't afford a Potts bike if one came up but would still love it for a bargain £500 price tag, but then I am realistic that that is never going to happen so am happy to out.

I noticed that ?, bit of a concern but then I'm 100% it's the real thing and as expected it went for a mint

well in line with the last one (when the pound was a bit stronger against the dollar at least). Looks like the exchange rate means that the Europeans will be snapping all our stuff up in the same way we did to the US a short few months ago....

its too much like helping someone with the biggest wallet

if you want something bad enough search for it yourself :x

im sure most of us have been in the position where weve been after a part for ages , finally one apears that isnt too crap and you have a good feeling about the seller , you watch it all week like a peeping tom who has just found the neighbour across the street gets undressed at night behind a brightly lit thin curtain . you wouldnt knock on all your other neighbors doors and tell em would you , no shes yours and only yours . its down to a day to go and its only had a couple of small bids , your competitors are known but will they be willing to bid as much as you ? which isnt a lot of course as all the stuff you need is only ever available when your skint

last hour and the three of you have only bid an extra £10 , youve formed an unspoken bond with bidder 1 and 2 you want it badly but you know they too have watched all week , they are no different to you

last 5 mins

f5

f5

f5

16 seconds

ARGHHH bidder4 whered you come from . you rappidly type in an extra £20 , knowing full well that money isnt available

f5

Xoutbid £45.00

where did that F$%ker come from ? was he watching all week too ? was he just playing the game differently ? its bad enough to think he had been toying with the three of you all this time but imagine if he hadnt even been checking ebay for that part every single day  imagine if all he did was check a site somewhere 20mins before it ended and decides he wants it to put in a drawer never to be seen again

I noted the WTB headset a while ago but personally it's not what I'm looking for, it didn't 'spark' anything inside. Also, through a link on here, there was (still is?) a blue (I think it was blue) CK headset with mango and black top bits which had (to me) been replaced. However on looking at the seller's other items noted a black 1 1/8th King headset in seemingly damned good nick, yet that hadn't been mentioned.

Also the search on eBay is shite really? Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong...I type in various names and some pop up, yet others don't, however I know the other parts are there as I've already seen the adverts via links from this website. Bizarre that.

Ha ha.

I hate that evil last second rush screen you get that says the amount you just bid was below the current bid.

Was after a BB the other day, found a Chorus one. Great I thought, no one should really want this, not top of the range, second hand. Current bid was £1.21 with a minute to go. Stuck £20 on it at the last second, only to get the "your bid is lower than the current bid" screen. Who pays £29 + postage for a BB that is available new for around £40!

Damn you big walleted eBayers spoiling it for normal people! Although it does make the next days victory even sweeter.

Point to bear in mind -

If no one posts on Auction Watch, there will be no Retrobike site.

The number of times people think they are the only ones watching an item, only to find several others on this site alone that are watching it too.
If you are buying yourself, OK. If not, post up.

I personally have gained more from AW than lost out.

What gump says. Love or hate it the ebay affiliate scheme pays for the retrobike server and all the cool stuff on the site.

ebay is big, there are far more people collecting retro stuff than on here. I really can't see posting it here is going to push the value up. If you've found xyz by searching so have 50 others...

that WBTCK could have gone for way more if the auction description and photos had been a bit clearer. i want one badly for the potts but only if it is really as new. the seller did not answer my repeated questions on the condition thus i "only" bid 123GBP...
