Au revoir Konamad

Interesting thread.

As a relatively new member here, I find it reassuring that mods take care of modding the forums for shady characters. It makes me want to make more transactions here.

A few of my first posts here, I was reluctant to reveal my ebay items that were identified by another member...till I saw that this community is responsible and looks out for each other. Good stuff....cheers.

My wheels arrived today, only took 2 weeks and two days  from date of payment (via Paypal).

He said he would post the wheels out 2 days after payment as he was busy but 5 days later they still hadn't arrived. I sent him numerous PM's regarding the matter of delayed postage and could see that he was receiving them but he didn't reply. Not until a few days later after I'd sent him a few more did he respond. He was posting on the forum though. Said that he had sent me PM's back and I guess I have to give him the benefit of the doubt  as I seem to remember an issue with PM's the other week. Strange that others were receiving their PM's though...?

After reading his feedback I was fairly concerned and thought that perhaps the issue would end up in the courts.

The wheels aren't quite as described, the rims are not in 'great condition with hardly any wear'. The braking surfaces are concaved with well over 50% wear but the hubs are really what I was after anyway - not that he knew that. At least he left on the worn and perished tyres and cassette though...

god this guy was taking the piss i buy and sell but normally to a loss/brake even   to help sustain my habit of retroness i even offer low price wheel builds for people here to fund my bikes like the sids i payed £42 posted for them then didn't need them so let them go for £30 posted its all about give and take but there is a limit

I normally try and break even ... Fail normally

or if I am trying to sell something because I need to make some money or get money back it goes on ebay.... Its nobody elses business then ??

His details for knocking in the door are all over the web ;)

I've deleted the online whois details for his website. If you need his contact details becasue you are involved with a transaction please PM me.

its a shame to see someone fall out with someone on retrobike,
personally i have brought a stem from him which was described okay so no problems there.
as for the buying stuff and selling it for a profit........... well there are plently off people on here that do that !! even some moderators !! and as for paying over the odds for stuff, well if you are stupid enough to pay for it, then its your own fault.
one of my first buys on here was for a frame that was overpriced, i believed the seller on his price guide and paid the money it also had issues with chips and unmentioned filler but thats the way it goes ! .
it turns out that it wasnt worth the money i paid but hey.... i know for next time. Smile

Think you miss the point rather.

Read what others have expereinced with this user - your stem may have been a sweet deal but others who are missing/waiting for parts aren't so happy.

Buying and selling is a part of the retro scene for certain people - realise a few people use the classifieds for this end. Konamad did take it to an extreme though, however if he had kept his nose clean and not f*cked people around and in that not caused myself and the other mods hassle there probably wouldn't have been a problem.

No i dont think i missed the point !!
there is good feedback aswell as bad feedback for him....
and i have read two complaints about him buying stuff and then selling it on for a profit a couple of weeks later. (not a crime)
most of the complaints are from the same people.
im not sticking up for him, the guy is a dick if he mis-discribes items and is crap at posting stuff,
but i think you rather missed my point ........... he isnt the only person to have done this, and it IS a shame to fall out with people on retrobike.
banning him is totally useless he can just join again under a different user name with a different computer and no one will ever know.

if i'd lost any amount of cash to some idiot who hasn't been decent enough to send me it, i'd be absolutely topped. If his feedback is 50 positive, 50 negative i'd say thats a pretty damn awful ratio.

yea fair play i know what you are saying, but the majority of his bad feedback is from the same users posting multiple complaints, so id say more like 25neg 75 pos .
thats why i decided to buy a stem from him and it turned up a week later, he does have a run of about 5 positive feedbacks
anyway i hope everyone gets the stuff they are owed,

how about banning profit making on retrobike ?
if you see an item for sale and you sold it to that person for less, then why not make a post and let everyone know how much profit the seller is trying to make ?

I bought some kit off Konamad, sounds like it took less time for him to get it posted to me here in New Jersey USA than it did to you guys in the UK..

My 2 cents, I found him to be ok.. I paid a little over the odds, but I couldn't get these particular parts in the USA, so was happy to pay it..

Like I say, just my 2 cents

I disagree, it is not totally useless because it will curb his poor sales as people will be less likely to deal with a newbie making his less effective at what he does, or doesn't do. By the time he built his post count and cred back up, a pattern would become evident again...people tend to not change...and we would all see that again.

If he improves, then it is a fresh start for him...so not "totally useless".

This is turning into an enlightening thread. I bought a set of Judys off Konamad and they did take a good while to arrive (hence my earlier comments about quality of service etc). I'd bought from Slimjoe at the same time and because I hadn't heard from both of them I drew the conclusion that my PMs weren't getting through. I later found out that Slimjoe was on hols (and he even took the time out from that to keep me posted – top man).

Having had as many great experiences with the likes of Guybe, SteveK, Jez and many others, all of whom were great communicators and utterly trustworthy and honest, I have to confess to getting a little concerned towards the end of the transaction with Konamad.

Reading all these posts I now realise I've been one of the lucky ones as my forks did turn up (and are currently being rebuilt for the Zaskar).

It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to purchase from people on this site. The unfortunate side effect of Konamads exploits (and my recent exploits with a certain Super Swin too) is, I fear, people will be less trusting.

I, for one will be very cautious when buying from members I haven't dealt with before. I can't imagine I'll be the only one thinking that either :?
