Argos Reynolds 725 Aero bike

Acliff

Retro Newbie
Hi guys,

Just wanted to share my work in progress and pride and joy.

I've lucked into an Argos cycles Reynolds 725 frame with steel aero bladed forks in 51cm square size (I can never find a decent steel frame in my size, and can't quite shell out for fully custom) it's fillet brazed, with a lugged bottom bracket.

My intention is to kit it out with semi modern kit, but I class it as fairly retro due to the threaded headset and steerer.
I will need to check the serial number, but as far as I know, it's no older than 1997 (Argos cycles designed the bladed forks in 1996, and started using 725 in 1997), resprayed in the last couple of years to Argos' gorgeous cobalt blue.

A picture of as it is now:

Aero forks, and awful temporary flower tape!

Though 1055 shimano would be a more period correct groupset (I have a full set to go on, not just the brifters), it will end up being ultegra 6600 group set with a duraace 7800 chainset.

I'm debating what seatpost and stem I should go with, and what to do about the silver stem, black bar issue.

Thanks for looking, any thoughts and comments are welcome!

Re:

if you look on the bottom bracket you will see the serail number. it will show you the year the frame was manufactured. we keep a record of all frames built and who they were built for & the dimentions on the build sheet

Re:

Thanks delboyt, I might send you an email/give you guys a call and get that information.

New bits!

Zipp team CSC wheels
Thompson masterpiece inline seatpost
Ultegra 6650 compact cranks (need to colour match the rings, and bolts!)
Fizik handlebar tape

Not far from being where I want it to be, want to get a King TI bottle cage, get some continental GP4000s tyres and polish the black handlebar down to silver, and maybe get some matching pedals.
And maybe slowly upgrade everything to duraace 7800.

Its down to about 8kg, which isn't too bad considering the steel frame and forks.
