Are you?

definately value for money, compared to what they cost us, and the visiters they bring in to uor country, and i like the fact we cant vote for them, makes it a bit dangerous - I would hate to live in a republic.

Much as I'm proud to be English, I have given serious thought to emigrating, purely on the basis of how we seem to get shafted for more and more tax at every turn.

I've lived and worked abroad in several countries, and despite the cost of living vein cheaper the wages are correspondingly lower, you risk a beating from the dibble for not paying graft, or the healthcare either doesn't exist or is chargeable at point of delivery. I'll take the high taxation, any day.

Denis Healey reckoned the best argument for the UK not becoming a republic could be summed up in two words: "President Thatcher"....

Looking forward to it. Our road is having a party. If I can get to the Atherstone road ride, I will have a lot of baking to do by the next day.

So brits, whats your alternative to the royal family or monarchy ?

I detest and fear what the US has, leaders based upon how well they were marketed, but not all republics are like that are they. But if we did go that route, then the royals would just become a wealthy family in the system, perhaps at the top of the one percent and will continue to do as they please except they would have to pay for it themselves but could continue tax dodging as that seems to be popular up there.

You see in the UK we have a choice of leaders, do we follow the royals or do we follow parliament, and yes Cromwell sold out his war achieved little except wealth and title for himself.

Personally I would prefer one leader who is accountable, that is they truly represent us in that they don't decide to go to war, invade other countries without our say so, as to think wasn't that the reason Tony Blair pushed through Digital tv, so we could use the red button to vote ? If cameron wants us more involved in politics, is he sure of that, because he could find himself with his hands tied, his ideology tossed away.

The tv for those that have it and are happy paying for it, screen comes up with blah blah blah reasons to go to war and blah blah blah not go to war, press red button to vote how simple can it be, especially now as we live in a digital communication world ?

I don't think I am patriotic. I do think it is good to see people getting involved with local events and what ever though, in the last 10 years I think a lot of people have invested a lot of their energy into the notion that the grass is greener some where else, and maybe have forgotten that there is value in the local community as well.

I certainly wouldn't wish any harm on them.

I suppose at the end of the day, to steal a line from Simon and Garfunkel - I'd rather be a hammer than a nail. They got to be a hammer, good luck to them.

We fly both flags english and british, and love the fact we still have a monarchy. Im a patriot and would be willing to defend our land till the end.
