The basis of happiness is much more complex the older you get, or rather the more you have experienced in life.

I couldn't go back to the days when things were so simple.

Too much to lose.
Me, I'm not so sure.

I think many don't appreciate those years at the time - knowing what you know now, maybe there's more to be had of that simpler time.

All the things that have come with age, more money, perspective, experience, complexity, responsibility - well they are what they are, but youth is one of those things you can never get back, and on reflection, simpler was unappreciated at the time - everybody seems in too much of a rush for the bigger, better deal.

That is fact neil...while growing up all we wanted was more and now we have it......well me anyway.....I dont bloody want it

anyway as for bikes.....they dont all crack up to be what we expected....well lets hope the manitou is different...erm....maybe not...erm...confused

You could not go back to then carrying that knowledge, as it came with experience. The eternal Catch 22, hindsight and all that.

What you can do, however, is simplify the life you have now.

Getting out and riding does help with that.

:)

Fell off tonight for the first time in ages.

It rained this morning and made a steep off camber descent a bit more slippery than it has been, front wheel went from under me and over I go.

Cut my knee, bashed my elbow.

Giggled like a school girl for ages.

I was 16 again... brilliant.

I'm not trying to regain any type of youth,

I'm enjoying buying/building/selling the bikes I once lusted after, but that's cos they're less of a financial burden than a nice car or house so I'm not financially worried about chopping and changing.

I have my bike from BITD, and my unicorn, so to me nothing else Retrobike wise, bothers me a whole heap.
