Are we just trying to regain our youth..??

You are right cyfa,,,,them things were just there but when I went on a little run with idb1 it was like going back in time a bit........that is what we are searching for that nice warm "nothing to worry about" feeling...

And the "I've got my whole life ahead of me and it's going to be a blast" feeling...

The funny thing is MM, on our 70th birthday, we're gonna look back at 2011 and say "Oh I wish I could go back to those young, healthy, vibrant days..." ;) :)

I always hankered after technical Lego in my early teens. Still not got round to buying any though!

David

Got me three sets of tech lego, and Scalextric - all acquired/bought for me since being a grown-up. First grown-up tech lego was actually bought by work colleagues when I was in hospital for a longish stretch - much better than the usual basket of fruit/bunch a flowers.

As for bikes - didn't really get into bikes until after I started work, so no fulfilling childhood dreams here, but sometimes the chase (for the right parts) is as much fun as the riding. Though I can still behave like a kid when seeing shiny things. :-)

I had TONS of Lego, boxes and boxes of it, gave it all away when I got older and now it's worth a bomb. Wish I hadn't would love to play with it now.

Technic, never bettered the 8860 Car Chassis.

I had the 8860 car chasis....nice....wouldnt want to build it now as I wouldnt have time to "talk crap" on here would I

Same here -- I had a TON of Lego and sold it all to the neighbours for £20....

You know you're wasting you're time when playing with Lego seems to be a more constructive activity.... ;)

yeah like the meccano debarcle.....

when I was a kid my parents would call me upstairs and say hurry up......we are going out.......

I would shout back....I am busy.....

they would walk upstairs and then say since when did one consider playing with meccano to be a constructive activity.....

I would answer never but it is a 'constructing' activity

to be followed by clip round the lug

The basis of happiness is much more complex the older you get, or rather the more you have experienced in life.

I couldn't go back to the days when things were so simple.

Too much to lose.

Bikes are like women.

You can jump from one to the other and keep a heap of them on the go at once.

Real satisfaction comes with discovering the one or two you can't live without, and riding the hell out of them.

I got in to mountain biking when I was 14/15 (1996), but don't hanker too much from bikes from that era if I'm honest. I can appreciate them for what they are and remember wanting them, but still don't get the urge to build one up. I've been lucky over the years and owned bikes that I've wanted. I love downhill bikes, but could never ride them to their potential. I'm happy enough tinkering with bikes at the moment and owning stuff that's a few years old. Can't be on with buying new (major components anyway), they're just too expensive.

Still wish the Malverns were going, they were cracking weekends :)
