Are V Brakes front/rear specific?

Quick question, I've ordered a set of cheap V brakes for the Mrs bike from CRC. Ordered a few things at the same time and overlooked the fact that I went for two rear v brakes (turns out they didn't have the fronts) when I thought I'd ordered a pair (my mistake btw)

Not arrived yet but will the rear work on the front or only suitable for the rear?

Re:

Some seem to specify front or rear specific. Swapping the pads around shouldn't be a problem. I've had brakes mixed about before and they've still worked fine. I'm hoping the 2 pairs of Avid Single digit 5 I've just ordered from CRC do work on both ends, as advertised. Have found CRC have been quite good about returning purchases.

Re:

You may also find the cable guide tube is not quite right, as some manufacturers have a 90 degree tube on the front and a 135 degree tube on the back.

You can buy replacement tubes at a LBS or Halfords.

Ride backwards dammit!

Ignore the different shaped noodles. There are no front and rear specific - Cytech training seems to have enforced this myth, just fit what suits the frame and angles for the smoothest route.
