the only differences ive noticed (when buying sets) are the noodle angles and pad fitment.
the calipers/arms themselves are not front/rear specific - just DS/NDS specific
that being said, like other comments here, its all about your frame geometry/cabling system and personal preference that sets up the differences for most i think.
