Here's a very longwinded rundown of them by yours truly

Unlike that little black dress that never goes out of fashion.I actually think they look better with wear the bronze, I always found that most classic gum/tan wall tends to lose their charm when worn.
Agreed, though I use my bikes mainly for commuting and I have an original set of Smoke and Darts on my 92 Bravado, they are my favourite combo, they look great, roll better than most and are pretty hardwearing too!If you are more on the road you could look for a Schwalbe Hurricane. They are not very expensive, not too heavy, roll really nice and have a light puncture protection. No tanwall though.View attachment 925549
Also a classic look for a low price tag offer the Vee Tires Mission MPC, tanwall but no puncture protection, but also light rolling and a little more offroad capable.

If grey sidewalls are okay for you then the Vittoria Barzo and Mezcal may also be a good choice if you can find them at a discount. I really like how smooth they ride.

Bernstein Continentals also have a classic look but they are not cheap and not so often available, around here at least. But the are fast and light and offer enough traction as long as it doesn't get too muddy. The Race Kings even more so.

I hope this helps a little.
Cheers!
Edit:
My favourite for offroading on vintage MTBs are still the Panaracer Smoke/Dart. They offer the most for the money on my local trails.
I also rode them on some trails in the Alps during the weekend and they performed pretty well. They had to handle everything from hard packed gravel to mud, wet roots, rocks and wooden features. I rode them with about 2.0 bar of pressure and they felt great.Agreed, though I use my bikes mainly for commuting and I have an original set of Smoke and Darts on my 92 Bravado, they are my favourite combo, they look great, roll better than most and are pretty hardwearing too!
