Are claws easy to remove?

I am looking for a Raleigh-SunTour V-GT Luxe rear derailleur. Many times they come with the mounting tab (the claw). The frame that I would put it on doesn't need one. If I find one with a claw, are they easy to remove?

Yes it is very easy to remove just place an Allen key in the bolt and undo the nut on the rear 'the claw' will then just unscrew ;) :D

Re:

Excuse me while I resurrect this thread... I have a Simplex rear mech with the adapter claw that I was planning on removing for the same reason, but read in a thread on a different (hence less trustworthy ;) ) forum that you shouldn't take them off.

And it looks like the diameter of the bolt that connects the claw is narrower than that of the dropout.

(Note I've not attempted to undo the bolt yet so it's all guesswork currently)

Andrew.
