Anyone know anything about these parts?

I recently bought a Viking Vision but have no idea about the parts on it! :?

This is on the crank arm...

If you know anything about these parts please reply. :)

Thanks.

The cranks are obviously German Thun, which are unfashionable but well-made.

The shifters and front mech are cheapo Far Eastern.

The brake calipers are Altenburger Sychron, similar to what you might find on the front of a typical 'Dutch bike' roadster, but also fitted to some mid-late '70s Peugeots such as the P10

Bars are ITM, don't know which model tho

not really, if they work ok... nice to be a bit different too. However, I would take that crankset off your hands if you do!

 although I'm not sure whether the person who I'm buying off has a crankset. I think they only have derailleurs and brakes.

The person who has a Suntour and Shimano (whatever I choose from the 2) groupset lives in the U.S though. Would I have to pay customs if I got them shipped from there.

I would rather have new derailleurs and brakes as these ones are knackered.

surely nothing a thorough clean & polish & grease couldn't fix?

I suppose so, but I think it's mainly on the side of things that I really want a Suntour or Shimano groupo more than anything.

I had to put on modern SRAM brake pads on it for now. Not sure whether you can get retro style brake pad holders? :?

hmmm, maybe not new - should be something on eBay or here though, something more 'period'?

Bear in mind that I'd like that chainset pls - I am waiting on another Thun though, thanks!

Al

Tell you what, if I can get a full group of ebay or the man in the U.S. Then as far as I see it you've already called dibs on the chainset. But will let you know! :D

There is a little bit about Altenberger on the Classic LightWeights web site, if I remember correctly?

They were a German company and had some sort of tie-up / association with GB components at some stage?
