Anyone into classic cars

Happy days - took my Alfa in for an early MOT and general check at local Alfa specialists - another advisory free MOT and their comment was - it's immaculate, we can't find anything that needs attention. Not bad for a 28yo Alfa

I’ve not had a weekend toy for a while and have recently been contemplating buying something but not sure what to consider?

I’d say I’m a Ford guy but willing to look at something else that doesn’t command RS tax!

To think I sold my Series 2 RS Turbo a number of years ago for £900 before the prices went crazy ☹️

I wouldn’t mind a BMW E30 😁

I’ve had various mk3 & mk4 Escorts over the years… XR3i, Turbo, Cabriolet, even a Popular Plus!

My last toy was a MK1 MX5 but it became a bit of a squeeze as I got older 😉

Everything is crazy money for anything half decent / iconic / nostalgic.

First time in my life I’ve not had a fast car or bike. I do miss the bikes but not the car

I’d like a super mint Nova GSI but they are again crazy money

I was hoping we'd begin to see prices drop so it becomes a buyers market.

I always wanted a motorbike but never had the balls to do it.

I'd love a Nova but again it's the cost and the rust which is inevitable on any classic unless it's mint or restored. I had a Nova saloon many years ago. I remember my mate having a Nova SR when we was young... that was a nice looking thing. It was late one, possibly J reg? in a lovely bright blue... did they become 1.4 by then?

Again, this is years ago, my mate and his dad both built themselves a Westfield each with Fireblade engines... Christ they were terrifying. No windscreen or anything.

The quickest thing I've ever drove was my dad's 400bhp Evo 8. I was shaking the first time I thrashed it!

SR was 1.4 yeh.

I had quite a few back in the day. Most ended up with 2.0 16v red top conversions as it was cheap and easy to do yourself.

I’d like a nova sport but they are super crazy money. But a GSI in silk violet would be cool.

Yep the fireblade engines 7 cars are crazy. See mine above. The felt faster than they were though.

I also had a few evos running 350-400 and they are very capable cars. But again now lots of money for a nice one.

Nostalgia is expensive it seems

Indeed...

I bet the red top Nova's were fun!

It's not all about speed for me anymore, I'd be happy with something simple to look after. A MK1 Astra would be perfect.

Mk1 Astra was my first car 😂

It started life brown 1.3 but ended up slightly different. I’d love a white GTE but again silly money for one now.

Not got pictures of all my cars unfortunately.

This thing had no interior apart from the dash, 2 front seats and a roll cage.

This next one was a little rough when I got it but tidied up okay.

Here's the MX5 I bought... ignore the Eunos sticker, I changed that and the alloys. Was very clean underneath for a MK1.

Never owned a RS but have a soft spot for them since many friends were massively into the scene. S1 and S2 are iconic.

Worked for Ford for 18 years so that likely accounted for why I didn’t own any. Ford likely take the crown for the craziest prices now though
