Anyone into classic cars

Will always remember my first experience of a CRX V-tec. Coming back from a night out and the lass driving decided to overtake a car. A bit lazily for my liking and there was a car on its way towards us. I said something along the lines of 'oh sh!t!' and she replied with 'no probs' and holy cow did that puppy pick up and go. There definitely weren't any probs!!. Sexy lady and sexy car.
Always wanted one, but i didn't pull my finger out and now they are rare and expensive. A lot of them got used and trashed in the CRX racing series that was taking place and i can't remember the last one i saw one outside if the internet.

I paid £5.5k for mine direct from the importer.. my friend had the UK spec in silver which he bought new from Honda with some inheritance money from his grandparents.. he'd had it for 5 or 6yrs before i bought mine.. i always wanted one.. tragic story really, within less than 12mths of me buying it, the master cylinder needed replacing.. in the days before the interwebz when imporers were still in their infancy.. having rang around (rang?.. ikr!) the only place i could find to replace it was Honda and they wanted £640 which i didn't have.. it was still drivable but i was having to pump the brake pedal.. One day, payday approaching, i came to a junction, brake pedal hit the floor, car rolled through and was hit by a lorry.. few weeks later my friends CRX was stolen / found burned out on Ringinglow road

Good thing was.. the insurance paid us both out full market value.. i bought a 300zx my friend bought a Intergra Type-R

I had a EPC Civic Type R that was a hoot, a real rev monster. I still love a vtec engine and have one on my old Accord now, it's still fun to put the boot down and feel the vtec kick in.

I've been lucky to own a few Honda's over the years from the early 4 cylinder 12v, to D16s, B16's, B18's and H22, always fancied a type R Accord but they are rare these days especially one that's unmolested.

I’ll say that I do like 90s Honda. Dc2 /5 CRX , ep9 etc.

But Vtec isn’t the massive kick that people make out. First time I went in one I was waiting , and waiting …..

It's not a massive kick as youtube would have you believe, but it turns a docile shopping car into a fun little car and all while being ultra reliable.

When I was young my best friend Pete raced Honda motorbikes...before you get too impressed though, he raced in the 50cc class. He let me have a go once, but I couldn't get the thing going without stalling it. Then he told me the secret...you had to take it into its power band before it would go at all...that started at 20,000rpm!
