Anyone in the Brighton area? Thinking of leaving London

I grew up in Hove and Brighton - its Londinium by the sea.

Theres great riding around Devil's Dike, a good place to bed in disk brakes.

As an aside, if you could be persuaded to move to just outside Reading, I might know of a really nice narrowboat with residential mooring. A fraction of the price of Brighton.

Been in Goring/Worthing for 3 years now, having lived all over the place.

I love it down here, the air is like nowhere else. I've just got back into biking and as it's only a few miles from the downs...

what's stopping you??

As for the chavs?..it's very rare you can find a place without, and even more pricey

The commute will take you a bit longer than from Brighton, but not by much, although i would look at how much the train tickets are going to cost you. Brighton/Worthing to London could be a deal breaker.

I would definitely recommend Worthing over Brighton or Hove, much less busy, crazy and dirty, also less expensive. I don't know too much about Shoreham or Portslade, but i would hazard a guess and avoid Lancing.

Hope that's been of some use!

Goring beach was stunning today!!! Worthing town centre is poo - full (really REALLY full!) of chavs and general ne'er do wells, but some of the outlying areas are much nicer - Goring, Ferring, Tarring to name a few - all close to rail links to Brighton if you fancy a fat night/day out in Brighton (because you won't get a good one in Worthing FACT). Brighton's great but has become a bit of a victim of it's own popularity - it's generally full of knobheads from out of town now at weekends at least. It's nice to live close enough to Brighton to enjoy the best bits but not necessarily live there, although I have friends that live there and wouldn't consider living anywhere else!!! Shoreham's on the up and up, Portslade's a bit of a dump, Lancing is a complete dump and avoid like the plague Aldrington and Fishersgate!!

Or you could out east to Lewes perhaps.....?

Wow, it's got a bit homophobic in here. Why does it matter if it's the gay capital of the world?

Brighton is often described as the 'gay capital of britain', maybe you should get out more.
