Anyone here got a 1991 or 1992 Kona?

A sign of the non-retro times is that Chain Reaction sell no seat post below 26.8 other than the USE Alien 25.0, which isn't exactly cheap and would require shimming up to 26.6.

The way to tell the differance between a '91 and '92 Lava Dome is the seat post clamp.

If it has threads that are welded to the seat-tube with a bolt through QR, then it's a 1991.

It it has a whole collar clamp that can be removed, it's a 1992.

Both years were Purple or Black with pretty much identical decals

Thomson Elite ? Not exactly cheap either, of course, which is why I'm on the lookout for a decent 26.6mm post for my old Explosif (but without paying Thomson prices, of course )

kalloy uno lite. $20 on ebay. 26.2, 26.4, 26.6 and every other measure you need.
a nice 26.4 post will be a lot of moollah.

I got a 25.4 from my LBS. Just a cheepie for £12. They seemed to have most sizes.
At that price it's handy if your not sure. :D

I'm using a Kalloy 26.6mm post at the minute - there's nothing wrong with it and it does the job but it just seems a bit "generic", if you know what I mean. Maybe I will have to splash out on a Thomson post for my old friend after all ........
