Anyone got a 91 or 92 Kona, pref lavadome, they could take a look at the seatpost and tell me what size it is?

Mine has a 26.4 but i`m now convinced that it is wrong and should be a 26.6 or 26.8. The split almost touches when the qr is done up. I would measure it but Im not absolutely certain as the top is a bit squeezed in now.

The bike is this one:

I used to have a 91 Cinder Cone (I know your Lava Dome is a 92) and I'm pretty sure it had a 26.6 post. It certainly wasn't a 27.0, that came later.

The point is though to use whatever fits - my 97 Kilauea came with a 27.0, but all 27.0 posts are loose in it while a 27.2 fits perfectly, so I use a 27.2, I don't care what Kona say. But a 27.0 fits my 97 Lava Dome perfectly and a 27.2 won't go in at all - I think the external dimensions of the tubes are probably the same, but the Kilauea has thinner tube walls, so the inner dimension is greater.

I would try some other posts but all i`ve got are way too big and I live in the remote wilderness so can`t actually try anyone elses so i am going to have to buy the right one.

Thanks

Surely the old trick of shimming with a strip of Coke can is going to be better than nothing until you can get to a bike shop and try a few out? [Then go on eBay to get the one you actually want!]

I can't remember now how thick coke can is compared to 0.1mm, but if you can get a shim in there at all then your existing post must be too small.
