Recently purchased MTB frame apparently made in 1985 labled Scimitar Cycles very road bike like build 531c thin stays, long point lugs, struggling to find out anything about the company though...

i have one. Built in 1986 and supplied by the bike shop in Lee on Solent, ‘Wheels’ I believe. It has been through several iterations. Still have the record hubs and I am contemplating a full campag restoration If anyone has any suggestions about a really good place to get this done I would be very grateful. it came with 753 stickers and was setup for long distance touring/perhaps auditing but I never did any audax.

Welcome to the site and thank you for your information. I had someone on another site suggest these were built in Germany any thoughts on that?

As to your restoration do you mean paintwork ? Do you only have the frame and wheels left ?
