Anyone heard of Pacific before?

Just picked up a new retro bike called Pacific Discovery. Never heard of Pacific before any one heard of them? Has a nice spec early deore Exage 500 Lx gears mavic 217 on lx hub thumbies etc.

I remember seeing a few out on the trails in the early 90's but never knew owt else.

I could be wrong but I think pacific were an importer/distributor that also had some bikes with their name on them?

I think Pacific are a large manufacturer rather than an importer. They made stuff for Diamond Back and Kuwuhara amongst others. Still going today i believe.

I bought and rode a Pacific 7000 in 1990 with full Deore II, straight blade cr-mo fork and 150mm stem :shock:

It was twitchy, light and £450 from York Cycleworks as I recall, frame was *a bit* like a non-sloping Cannondale... it replaced my Ridgeback 602LX that got nabbed from school bike sheds :cry: and it was not a patch on the Ridgeback!
