anyone else dislike drops?

I use my drops all the time, especially when making progress on the flat, going down hills, when on it going up hills, or just when it's windy and I want to reduce resistance a bit.

+1

Been using drops for the past 30 years and I'm with Jonny69 on this matter. I'll just use the top or the hoods for a more relaxed pace on the flats or when I just want to absorb the scenery. I'm thinking that your bike isn't probably set up correctly for you...

That would be silly of me however, as the Hamster says surely if you aren't on the drops going down hill, aren't your hands further from the brakes?

my hands may be further from the brakes, but my face is also further from the fast moving tarmac...Plus my hands are resting on the hoods, so in effect they are on the brakes if that makes sense?

One other thing - hamster reminded me - not all drops are equal!

Modern drops come in really shallow sizes and are angled differently at the front of the drop so you have another useful place to hold them.

i have drops on my commuter and i only ever use them when going downhill. the rest of the time i use the hoods. No other reason than I prefer it, don't think there's anything wrong with that!

I've just got some Planet-X Strada bars that have a shallow drop and short reach which I find very comfortable. The only problem seems to be that you can only get the modern shallow drops with an OS clamp size. So not much use if you've got a quill stem.
