Anyone declaring eBay income to the HMRC?

If you're making enough money on ebay to attract hmrc, just pay the tax - your country needs you!

On a positive note, ebay's requirement for proof of identity makes ebay buyers a lot more trustworthy than Facebook marketplace - loads of our customers have been "cased" by Facebook users looking for bikes...
But not intending to pay.

I use multiple accounts on eBay, one for bike stuff as I do clearly make a profit from it, one for personal stuff, one for stuff that's to be collected. All personal accounts for reasons stated previously (random people knowing my address).
For the bike stuff, I just pay the tax. I'm doing a self-assessment anyway, so to put the numbers in a spreadsheet along with saving all order details isn't that much effort. Some could argue it's a waste of time etc but I usually do this while millions of others are watching Strictly Get-me-out-of-here Essex Factor so....
My FIL told me that as far as HMRC are concerned, you're guilty until proven innocent and it's all on you to prove it.

That's right.

You're guilty till proven innocent of tax non- Payment.
That could cost you some money.

You're innocent till proved guilty of tax evasion.
That could cost you your freedom.
