Anyone declaring eBay income to the HMRC?

No, "Anyone declaring eBay income to HMRC" is the thread title.

But as we all know threads take a path and it’s an interesting point that’s made.

Your average PAYE person isn’t going to do a self assessment unless forced or absolutely necessary.

Someone receiving benefits would be highly unlikely to self assess.

If the benefits they receive aren’t adequate then it’s a case of adjusting lifestyle or working for an income. If they work , by selling on eBay then of course that should be taxed if applicable

Fair comment.
Edit, the benefits issue is contentious. I suspect the comments in the last paragraph are made from a fairly entitled point of view as are so many comments in this sort of thread. I've no axe to grind so I'm out.

If your selling stuff on ebay you already own and are just trying to get rid of it fair enought but if you are buying things to resell on ebay for a profit you are running a business now if your on the dole and doing this you should not be on benefits they wont be declaring thats probably why they have a threshold amount

Interesting thread.

My buddy sells all the things I don't want and we split the money or sometimes I just give him things I don't want. This is now casing us problems as I have to work out profits on things and try to remember what I paid for stuff.

It is fair though as some of the things he has sold for me I did indeed buy just to make profit on. Bloomin headache though
