Anyone considered Cyprus as a cycling destination?

I got the chance to stay out near Larnaca for a week in May last year with a couple of cycling buddies - and will be going back this year.

Flights are cheap - they drive on the same side of the road as us Brits and most Cypriots speak some English.
Easy riding along the coast or head inland for some hillwork ;)
Temps hit 25 to 30deg while we were there - which was just right for me :)

The apartment we rented was about £200 for the week - between three!
There was even a track pump ready and waiting :)
Really comfy and the complex had a pool and bar/restaurant with cheap beer and food.

Anyone else been out there?

Re:

Yes, as above. Been there a while back.

Island seems to be criss cossed by dry sandy track that appear to have ni restriction for use. If to hot then head into the mountains for more of the same

Re:

I should have mentioned - I took the road bike - not the MTB
I can't comment on the quality of the off-road trails

The appartment was owned by a friend of a friend - so if anyone wants a RB discount - let me know.

Re:

I think it would be a great cycling destination, on or off-road, especially during our winter months.
Been there a few times, but never with my bike.
Plenty of folk head off to places like Majorca or Tenerife for some winter training in sunnier climes, I imagine Cyprus would be just as good tbh.

Re:

Interesting ... couple of questions for those that have been

Is there a reasonable selection of bike hire places? - we would want carbon road bikes

Are there plenty bars to have drinkies? Not bothered about early hours clubbing, drinks till midnight are good ... oh and prices, one of the mates is not rich

Re:

Bike Hire - don't know - we took our own bikes - hired proper bike boxes, lobbed kit etc into them along with the bikes and took one suitcase between us. Monarch seem to be pretty reasonable on bikes on flights.

The local beer was in bigger than a pint bottles and cheaper than the UK - I think €3 a bottle.
I'd say depends on where you are - but open to midnight was never a prob at the bar where we stayed.
