I find Merino base layers keep you really warm without overheating and well breathable. The cold had my legs pretty tiff when I got back though.

WR- Are you using the DT XR 4.2D rims? Lets put it like this, <100 miles and I already have a dent in mine so, go careful! HNY everyone!

DT swiss cheese as they're now known... i've got a few sponsored mates who arent loving them..

The team Ti got some stick for a couple of hours.

Uphill and ice don't work though.

Another gripe are frosty wooden bridges (read deathtraps).

Also, riding cross country across a grassy field is normally a pleasant thing, but it was more like riding along a cobblestone road on a rigid as the ground was that frozen!!

DT rims

Err they have over 2000K on them & a few nasty crashes! Its all down to the tyres you use? I stick with wider section covers and stiffer sidewalls, What are your mates running? Not skinny XC skinwall jobbies?

Horses

Man I hate Horses by the way, I belive we have more round here than anywhere in the country, and they cut the bridlepaths up like nothing else, then after the frost, is it rough!

2000K? so you've only had em a month? ;)

do a search on the various forums, they're getting mixed reviews... but hey if they work well for you then happy days :D

Rims

I'm fairly light and do use wider tougher tyres, some modern tyres are just getting too skinny AND soft in the sidewall department and with tubeless (Incarnations of the Devil) folks are running pressures at 24/28psi commonly, so you then need a fr/dh rim to withstand the rim hits? All defeats the object of tubeless really, Wheat and Chaff, tubeless is Chaff!

I did 30 miles on the road bike. It was so cold I saw a couple of brass monkeys and one of 'em had a brazing torch in his hand and a worried look on his face.
