Anybody have experience of sending airmail parcel to Canada?

From the UK....?

I sent some P2's Airmail parcel, on the 7th March, via the RM International Tracked and Signed service. On the 8th, they showed as 'On the way to Vancouver' and that's it, nothing since. Not helped by the RM website being down for a few days recently, but nothing has been updated since it came back on line.

I have to say the member they were being sent to is being amazingly good about it, but frankly it's embarrassing. I have to leave it 25 days after the expected delivery date before I can claim, and even then it doesn't look like an easy process (presume RM will just say it's not their problem anyway as it's in Canada and no longer with them)

Any similar experiences anyone? Does customs sometimes hold onto things for ages?

Re:

I send my guitar hardware all over the world, and the Continental US is by far the worst recipient these days for delays in Customs, and the postal service (depending on how many stops they have to make)...

...the weather is also a very big deciding factor!

Crazy that I get get a parcel to India or South Korea inside of a week, but one took six weeks to get to Texas last winter!

You'll probably find yours will get there eventually.

Re:

Thanks so much, puts my mind at rest a little. The member is saying the same thing, that sometimes it takes weeks.

Just wish this was pointed out on the website, or it was explained on the tracking (which should continue once in Canada as that is what I paid for) that the item is awaiting customs or whatever. Thinking about it, I did send an item to the USA last year, against my better judgement, an ebay item, and that was a very nervous wait as the buyer was asking questions every day. Think that took a while, but not weeks!!

Re:

Yes, I should also have added that a Supplier of mine in Singapore gets his parcels to me in around a week, but a couple from Canada recently have taken around 3-4...

...a tad nerve wracking, but I've not lost one, either way, yet 8)

Re:

For what its worth, I'm waiting on a couple jockey wheel bolts shipped from China, and apparently that supplier has two other Canadian recipients who are experiencing unusually long delays in receiving their parcels (mine is now going on five weeks - two over-due), whereas their non-Canadian deliveries seem unaffected by this problem.

Thanks all, I may actually get some sleep now tonight!

It's going to Vancouver, Kent, probably turn out to be your neighbour.....

(That's a bit like when an American comes to England and says, you must know Dorothy in London......)

Re:

I had a parcel sent via royal mail from the UK to Ireland and after a few weeks I received it after it was sent to Vancouver first . Save yourself a few quid and post it to Ireland :) ....

If you only knew ... but being such a politically correct world nowadays ... one can't really say very much on a public forum.
