Any love for the old Carrera’s here?

Tainted by the brand owner's tendency to push BSOs to the young and gullible, and put them off bicycles for life🙁

But then that makes them a bargain😉
Sad but true and I have worked for them for many years. Carrera bikes were decent value for money and I have only owned two of them myself before I got to work for them in 2001.
1992 Carrera Katmandu x2. (like the one in this thread here ). I had bought the first one without decals and a straight fork which was not original to the bike it seemed, though the spec was nearly the same as the second that did come with original decals (and curved forks) still on the frame. They both had a Reynolds 531 frame so were fairly light and it made for a nice ride. I did end up selling both to make way for something else instead.

1989 had a u-brake on the rear and a 1” head tube and 531 tubing.
1990 had cantilevers front and rear, a 1 1/8” head tube and 531 Magnum tubing.
Ok so mine is a 1990 then. Definitely doesn’t have a u brake! Actually saying that where was the u brake mounted on an 89 down the bottom or in the conventional place like my 91 zaskar?

My dad had a blizzard I think. Was that green and white one?
After having a go on my mate's new fangled ATB (Mustang) with loads of gears back in 1987/8 I had to have one and remember lusting after the green/white Blizzard in Halfords window. Luckily, by the time I'd saved up and convinced my parents to help out I'd moved on to an 89 Saracen Tufftrax from the local independent.😄
