I've just brought a Zafira with a DVD player fitted in the rear.

It has the facility to allow the DVD sound to come through the car speakers instead of headphones, by means of tuning to a pre-set radio station.

However, whilst the kids say the sound is fine in the rear, there is a faint high pitch buzzing in the front that after half an hour or so drives me and the wife mad!

What can I do????

Sounds a bit like interference from the alternator, possibly, and if so there are things out there you can buy to suppress it.

The long winded alternative would be to completely gut the interior an re-route the cables to all the hi-fi equipment, away from all the other looms.

Mmmm, dont want to gut it

Would it cost much to suppress it?

Its some sort of ground loop from the power management/charging system in the car.

As you are connecting over FM I doubt you'll be able to sort this, ideally the power source to the DVD unit needs a cleaner earth connection. Chances are the internal earthing to the audio stage in the player is poor and it'll be one of those nagging niggles. :(
