another project! 1990 Marin Pine Mountain

finally! some movement!

the frame came back today, i'm pretty caught up in the shop so i decided to get it hopefully in to a rolling chassis, first thing obvs was to unpack it. i'm very happy with the "zolatone" style that Matt at the Powder shack di, not sure how he did it but it is rough to the touch, which i now understand why he didn't put the stickers on! it is a little darker than it should be for this model but to be honest i like the darker version from the following year model so this is a good thing as far as i'm concerned! i fitted the stickers, they may peel over time i think as the rougher finish is harder to stick to, that said like most of my project bikes it's never gonna see major mileage again! i do these more for fun these days!

anyway! some pics! :)

I've just read-up from the beginning, this is all ringing very true to me right now. I bought a 91 PM a couple months ago, my powder coater is having a mare re-doing the forks & stem etc for me.

Yours looks great & is a pretty good Zolatone substitute, I must say. Prepare yourself for the onslaught of requests of who, how & where from, long into the future. I look forward to the progress.

@stocko he's had some issues recently, he has become a bit picky as to whether he takes on work. basicaly he was made redundant from his main job around christmas last year, his small unit for doing his sideline powdercoating was 5 mins from where he worked, his job enabled him to finish early on fridays meaning he could spend the afternoon/early evening banging out powdercoating (technically it's not a long process), he'd then head home again not too far from the unit, this worked well but then he got his new job which was much further away from the unit, and not having the early finish on friday meant it really ate in to his family time/evenings/weekends. as a result he has reduced what he will do, he's been really good to me but i think that because i don't chase him and say "yeah whenever it's done is fine" etc i think he appreciates the lack of pressure so he has been happy to do stuff for me,
