another eBay oddity

ok, so I'm browsing eBay for a 27" front wheel for a road project. Find one:

and so I quiz seller as to how it can be an MTB wheel when it's listed as 27" (it was actually listed as 26" AND 27" until he changed it after I originally asked which size it was and how come it was listed as BOTH).

I wasn't being an a*se but I thought it was worth pointing out (after he removed all reference to 26") that 27" is NOT a mountain bike wheel size, and here's the response:

"we sell mountainbikes with 27" wheels, there called town & country bikes."

has the world gone mad? :?

27" (aka 27 x 1 1/4") is an obsolete size which I think manufacturers stopped making long before the MTB boom of the late '80s. So that wheel has been sat is a damp bike shop window for 25+ years but is now being sold as a NEW Town & Country MTB wheel

It's brand new, unbranded, with Raleigh tags, in perfect condition and chrome flaking off. . . .

Quite the rarity . .
