Tuesday night was -3 and Wednesday night was -7.Ground has been frozen since October and it was horrendous.Even double bagged it was bloody freezing despite foilbacked rollmat+airbed between me and the ground.
Time to invest in a serious winter sleeping bag and maybe a thermorest or something like that.

Yeah well done DT I hate camping in the summer- it's Baltic out there.

Forgot to add tthe high wind and driving rain on Tuesday night made things interesting 
Theres the red squirrel in Glencoe Gazz,but its kind of basic in the facilities department, has stony ground,the midges there are also particularly bad in the summer months.Worst of all is though you can have a campfire,the warden comes round at 11pm and puts it out with water,then comes back to tell you not to talk after midnight :shock:
Other than that you can camp anywhere you can find in Glen Etive that has ground flat enough,we usually camp at the end of the road next to the carpark,its about 15 or so miles to the end,but its worth it

Can you recommend me a winter bag Rob? thinking along the lines of a Rab or Mountain equipment down :?
The chap i go with did some sort of crazy mountain training for the TA.In a foxhole in winter without equipment and is now totally impervious to the conditions

I find camping slightly strange. You can spend a small fortune on kit. One mate spent nigh on £300 on a fancy sleeping bag. :shock:
In contrast, last month i stayed in a small country house B&B, nice views, huge bed, egyptian cotton sheets, a breakfast fit for a king with all organic local produce etc. all for £48. That was for two people as well, so £24 each!
You can keep yer campin' at those kinda prices.

know what you mean Dr, I like the idea of in the wild cheap and cheerful camping and Glen etive has lots of spots along the river that would make great spots, that was the route we took last year- stunning
Put up a build thread for my clubroost full-susser. Finished it properly last week and it's the first part of my new year's resolution to finish all my builds and get them up on here. One down, 4(ish) to go...
