Aluminum frame - stripping and polishing advice?

Looks good. I've already ordered some Mother's alu and mag polish as it came highly recommended elsewhere, so will see how I get on once I've finally got the gooey green nitromors mess off....

Take a look at my build mate.... no clear coat and still looks great. I only use it to ride about on gentle pootles with my two young sons but so far no issues having not laquered it. I have a Sunn Xircuit too in bare metal which were never laquered by the manufacturer and that’s fine too..

Nice - I doubt I'll achieve a finish anything like that but I can dream! Use case is similar for me - a bike to take out with the kids and an occasional "proper" ride.

Maxolen powerstrip arrived today and is easting through the lacquer much better than nitormors - thanks for the recommendation!

Nitromors chemical paint remover, wire wool, Autosolve metal polish and wet and dry! or get ti shot blasted at your local power coaters

Buy some of the sponge polishing heads that I used in my thread too that you stick in a drill. Cheap as chips on eBay...Much much better results with autosol that way as it’s almost instant shining rather than hand polishing so takes all the time and sore fingers out of it....

For your reference nightrider👍🏽.
A dull Marin Team FRS 1993 frame, using products & some elbow grease.

All done now - see my build thread in the >98 section!

Ended up giving up on Nitromors and used Maxolen powerstrip - much more effective. Otherwise exactly the same process - wire wool and stripper, a good clean up, then Mother's ALU polish with some cheap Amazon drill pads...

Just have to finish the rest of the build now!

For reference!
