just looking at bikes on ebay as you do and came across this

is it really an alpinestars?

Looks like one of the late ones to me (1994/5?). Made after they lost their mojo imo.

Doesn't look like the right fork for any type of A'stars??

Yep, sadly it's a later 94/5 model as Brocklanders says, and he's also definitely right about the loss of mojo.

The forks are correct fot the later ones, when they completely lost their way and went back to a 1-1/8" headset.

I have a similar set of forks that claim to be 'race tuned' but don't think I'll ever test that statement..

If you fancy an Alpinestars without the E-stay, better off looking for a 1990MY in my humble...
