I'm guessing from the lack interest that it might be best to put it in storage for another 20 years or so.........

Or I'll clean it up and take a better photo of it.....What do you think?

I think what you're up against is the 'Just another Newbie signing up to sell his bike and not bothering to, A: post in the right section, and B: disappear straight away without contributing anything to the Forum...' syndrome

they are a great bike with an iconic colour scheme from the 'golden' era for sure.....i agree the e stay models attract more interest, but its originality means something.....put up some better, close up pictures, in the for sale thread if that is your wish....you will get £50 in a day for it, double possibly, if you find the right buyer......it will mean more to you though, if you service and polish it, come and ride it and have a laugh with us!.... :D

Frame looks immaculate.

Would like to see more pics, especially some close ups of the paint and any scratches...

Nice!

This is worth a few quid:

I advertised this exact frame / fork / headset / stem / seatpost / chainset / mechs and brake, basically a bike without wheels and bars on here a few years ago for £50, mine was extremely tatty and faded condition. My hand was bitten off with people eager to buy!

I would say its worth approx £200 in that condition - just the DX groupset should net you over £100 in that condition if you split it.

Best thing to do is stick it on ebay - but make sure you offer postage (via parcelmonkey.co.uk etc for a tenner - free bike box from halfords).

Even better - get out and ride it - you won't find a bike of that quality for £200

EDIT: heres my original for sale thread, with people saying it was too cheap: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight=

Thanks for that information, I think I'll clean it up and take some better photo's, may post them on here to see what response I get.
As for the price, I know what it cost me back in 1990..........
I paid £500 for it but it retailed at £550!!!!!!!!!

Let me know if you sell would be interested as i have a little known LX version of this and would like to add a DX to the collection

as for £200 very very unlikely unless you split / butcher it up and then you will still struggle to reach £200

£50 is too cheap though i would have said around a £100 TBH

Nigelm - Were you at the East Dean jubilee afternoon a couple of weekends ago? If so I nearly came over and said hello but I had to go and get my stepson entered into the fancy dress competition! (Which he won incidentally dressed as a mug, which won him..............a mug!)

Worth noting that your £500 BITD is the equivalent of £980 today!
