Got this very cheaply on Gumtree...better photos if I clean it up a bit... I've seen the Cro-Mega models and I'll get one In the future but this will start me off...

It's been ridden lightly but then not looked after. Rust abounds on the ancillaries, it's got a Mavic rear and Araya front, needs full refurb of all the cables and brake blocks. Now, I do have an MBK Adventure (pic at the bottom) with the 300GS bits on it rather than the LS on here. I much prefer the look and vibe of the Alpine so I think maybe I'll transfer some bits over. The MBK is in better condition but I just love the Alpine.













Or do I just sell them both on and try for a Cro-Mega?

Aha! A thought occurs: There was an Alpine model with drop bars....I think maybe a drop bar conversion might be good....I can re-use the thumbies...I've got a brand new 11-28 cassette and chain to use and I need to re-wire the whole thing anyway.....

Of course I'm going to like this!

I think the drop-bar models were a 27.5" wheel cyclocross biked called Alpine X-Cross, so this would be a great nod towards that if you go in that direction

Looking forward to seeing it develop

I didn't know that it wasn't in the catolgue/brochure, but the colour scheme and decals give it away as a 90 model.

It'll get the wheels from the MBK for now so I can get it cleaned up and see how it rides. I have a set of drop bars that may fit then I have to work out bar end shifters or move the thumb shifter s across somehow while retaining some space.
