Loz Poole
Retro Newbie
Hi everyone, being new to the forum I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Loz and I am 31, have been into biking since about 13 or 14 when I was allowed to use my mums boyfriends bike which was a gleaming Alpinestars Almega DX. I loved it and was the only one out of all my friends who seemed to be able to ride it!
Unfortunately this got stolen from mums boyfriends workplace... back yard of a police station!!! and that was the last I ever saw of that.
A couple of years ago I decided the time was right to get back into biking again. Somewhat out of touch with technology I was a little surprised at the cost (and weight) of new bikes nowadays so started looking for the old almega and to my delight found the same model, same paint design, only problem, it was about 140 miles away. Determined I clicked buy it now and waited until Saturday when I could drive and pick it up.
It was exactly what I was after however there were a few paint scuffs and the obvious wear and tear of a 19 year old bike.
Since then I have been wanting to update the bike without spending a fortune.
So far I have opted to respray the bike and just replace a few things like BB, chain and rear cogs.
To follow are some pictures which I would welcome your thoughts on... good or bad... and any suggestions you might have for me or the bike
thanks for your time
