Airfix. Longest of Long Shots!

This is a very random question! I know a few on here are into their Airfix models. Does anyone have a model of a Boulton Paul Defiant?

It was a two man fighter that rather than having forward firing wing mounted guns, had a moveable turret.

I need to know the span of the propeller. I have tried to scale it from a book and Internet but would like a second opinion!

I can but hope...

Two replies already! I'll buy that nose kit as a last resort. I could get a kit to fix it to. I haven't built an Airfix since my dad super glued himself to a Buccaneer fighter bomber in the seventies.

I have used very similar measurements to those to scale a span of 3100mm for the propeller. I have a whole book on the plane but no dimensions on the prop.

Thanks for the fast replies.

Get yourself the the airforce museum. It'll be on display.
A quick measure here and there ;-)

I live just down the road from Cosford. Trouble is I don't think they have one. The old Boulton Paul factory recently closed and their partially rebuilt Defiant is being stored at Cosford. Still, a visit to Cosford is never time wasted. They are bound to have something similar!

Would it not have an early DeHaviland 3 bladed variable pitch as fitted to the RH drive Merlin....... real diameter 10 feet 9 inches?

then scale that?

Shaun

PS I built one as a kid LOL

I calculated it to 3.2 metres so not too far out!

I have to make a half scale one.

T'internet says it is that blade. At least a mk1 in some Poland place with some pretty pictures.

Tinternet also says its on display in london RAF museum.
