In all fairness? I wouldn't wear either. But that's down to my riding preference/environment.
I only drive in an urban environment (read as : the city center) and don't see how either solution would protect my head if a car drove over it.
Due to the dense traffic in Antwerp, there's no way a car can go fast enough to hit me from behind, so my only worries are frontal and side impacts, which I have always been able to avoid so far.
If I ever fail to avoid one, it'll happen at sufficient speed to kill me regardless of what protection I have.
Besides, my brain already is messed up, so it can't get much worse.

I had to wear a helmet when I was still racing roadbikes in the mid-90s, and always hated the damn thing. I actually quit all competitive riding because of the helmet.
That being said, I need to teach a friend's 6yo son to ride and plan on setting the right example. I'll be wearing a helmet whenever he can see me. That way he will accept the helmet as a part of cycling and his head will be protected if he ever falls over.
