Air-B latex tubes

yep, and I bought a couple....

And my local LBS had one floating around on the shelf too, so I snapped that one up...

Have had the same one in the front wheel of my 91 Xizang ever since I built it up in 91. Only problem is they are very porous compared to a butyl tube so you need to fill them every ride

So no tendency to suffer from snake bites, like certain other light tubes?

I thought they had an inner coating that made them less porous than conventional latex tubes??

I had a set back in 1990/91 and I don't remember having to pump up that frequently, more like once a week??

I used to run these back in the day. Despite the claims of puncture resistance I found them no better than butyl tubes.
They did have a butyl coating on the inside to limit air seepage, but they weren't perfect.
When the did snake-bite they had a tendency to completely explode though, shredding the tube and making it unrepairable.
They were pink though and came with red dust caps and a sticker, so i had to have them.

Flip! Didnt a stash turn up on ebay recently for about £5 each????

Yep - they were about £7 each - and I think I flagged them up here to you guys.

I've had two of the five I got explode on me. Not while riding - just fitted onto rims/tyres. Came back 10 mins later to find one flat - 4 inch split init!

The next one did the same - with a 24inch split in it!!

I'd been running them on 1.9inch tyres and they'd been fine - having fitted them to 2.1 at higher pressure they gave out.

And yes - the construction does seem to be two part - inner and outer layers :?

imo
they were rubbish bitd and cant see them being any better 20 years
