Yeah it was I suppose. I think the root of the aero question (to be or not to be concerned with it) is in that photo though.Bit harsh matefunny AF though.
@Nob is a tester and clearly respects and champions those who can lay it down and knock out a great time. Achieving the objective of less time is the only thing that matters. Money, comfort, cutting a nice line on your bike - all of that is secondary to that objective.
I'm at the absolute opposite of this philosophy. I take the piss because to me the whole thing is utterly ridiculous. Wearing a morph suit down a dual carriageway on some torture device geometry. For what? To shave a few seconds off your last 10 on the same course? To me its farcical but we all must have our own distractions from death I suppose.

There's watts of power visible in the old photos, today's watts have to be 'sleek watts' to win a pro level TT. 3D printed components specifically fitted for each of the top riders does not hurt. Going faster than the old guys is a fact, not a lie. Nutrition, bike weight, position, disk wheels, altitude training, skinsuits, helmets, booties all have an effect - and frame designs, too. Additionally = the paychecks are bigger, too!

It is generally used as a light hearted jibe. Most blokes when called a bell end have a chuckle, they certainly don't view as an insult, just banter. Much like being called a dickhead.

It should be noted that I was being vulgar but I said the gent looked like a bell end, not that he was a bellend. An important distinction I feel.
I once had a hard job explaining to my American colleague that 'dogs bollocks' was a good thing and 'bollocks' was bad.
