Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

But the bad design is that the tyre can roll off the rim if it loses adhesion, while the rider can put huge forces on it cornering.

Long descents heat the rim and soften the glue.

The winners are often better at taking risks, but the effects can be catastrophic.

Modern tyres are probably inherently safer, but the risk management is operating at the same level.

Reminds me of the risks walking or cycling.
Here in the sw UK, it's slightly safer to cycle per mile travelled.

But this is about the subject managing the risks. cyclists are doing a lot of it, necessarily, many peds aren't doing much.

You mean this in relation to the traditional tub?

But if you use the correct glue it won't soften and cause the tub to roll

The pink Clement tub glue was like concrete. It didn't soften, the downsides were it was a bugger to remove from rims and it was no good for a spare tub, as it didn't retain it's tackiness to then mount away from home

The brown Dunlop stuff did move when it was hot because it softened, and this was what you pre-applied to your spare

So while Beloki's ONCE team may have been contracted to use the Dunlop type, a canny mechanic should have used Clement for a mountain stage

Yeah, who are they with their wind tunnels and fancy computers. What do they know.

All them fancy scientists with their degrees can’t even figure out what a radish is good for. They tried but found nothing useful for you when you eat a radish. I like the taste, good enough for me.

Anyone who exceeds the frankly excessive speed of 15mph deserves to be slowed down, by something, police action hopefully. That's pretty much my average commute speed, on a sunny day. I've seen people going faster of course, coming the other way, but they generally have the wind behind them.

If I was paid to race things would be different, I'd even wear a helmet, now and then, maybe even them funny big white socks. As is I'll stick to my 40 year old Santini gear, a banana in me back pocket, and a sarcastic expression for any passing motorists.
