Adult kick scooters

i want to have as much fun as my boy does on a scooter. so i've been thinking of getting one.
i'm trying to get him out on his bike more, but he does love his scooter (which is considerably lighter to haul back when he gets tired and is foldable).

Plus if i want to just get to the shops it seems way more convenient (i dont have the space to keep my bike in the flat or shared hallway).

so, a scooter seems a viable option - and i quite like scooters.

seen these dirt scooters:

and i like - i hate the PU wheel style scooters (uncomforatble and dodgy in the steering area over larger than 'M&M' sized stones), plus these are slightly less emasculating...

anyway, has anyone got one of these? rate them at all for adult usage???

I guess living in Brighton (or London) you'd get away with it providing you are sub 25...

;)

Me? Forget it - late 40's and been on my son's MGP* twice; first time wiped out on a slimy concrete footpath, second time *completely* ar$e over tit on a busy seafront promenade when the front wheel hit a 5mm high dodgy paving slab.

* [edit] this is a non-dirt scooter of course. :)

We got my boy the exact same scooter for Christmas before last.
It was strong enough, he got it hoping to start a new thing with his friends.
Disappointingly none of them wanted a dirt scooter and he sold it about a month later.

Just to add, he's been into proper stunt scooters for a few years.
God knows how much he's spent on them between pocket money and Birthday and Christmas presents.
Luckily he's now into bikes.
Sold all his scooter bits to buy bike stuff.

Did have a go on the dirt scooter a few times, I'm 14.5stone and took my weight ok.

itll literally be for rolling down the hill i live on to the park with the eldest boy and to the shops/train station (the train in the morning doesnt allow bikes on my route...hmph!

i just need something more substantial than those crappy/ultra dorky looking scooters.
i know i wont look 'on trend' riding one of these dirt scooters, but i really couldnt care less about my image - i change my wardobe once a year (and thats only because the Mrs makes a comment!).

i'm 31 and i'll do as i please :P

they are expensive though for what they are...but i cant judge people for spending money on something as subjective when im happily (and secretly to some extent) spending triple that much building a bike at the moment....:P

I got a cheap stunt scooter a couple of years ago as a bit of fun and it was a good laugh, this was a JD Bug stunt scooter but the dirt scooters look really fun :) .

 Mr trendy... :D

I think you should get one then if you think it'll be good for ya.
Like I said they are strong enough.

Boy used to go skatepark with them and do whips, 180's, 360's etc.
Like the MGP, Blunt ones and others he's had :)

TBH.. being selfish I'm glad he's into bikes now cos we can ride together.

Damn, I wish I hadn't opened this thread ...
