Hi There,

I wondered if there are any options for getting the Klein painted to original standard? Does Trek offer a service?

I am about to acquire an old 1990 Attitude that has seen better days. I was thinking of racing it over the summer and then getting it a make over during the winter...

Cheers

Re Paint

A lot of half decent Powder Coaters would do you a good job of repro'ing most of the moderate paint jobs, but depends what you want to pay? A good custom paint shop could do a decent job also. I prefer PC on a used bike as its just so much tougher than paint and polishes up really well.

ooh Powder coating is a good idea..

Has anyone ever just a Klein down and had it anodized or highly polished? I am wondering what THAT would look like..

theres been a few on ebay in the past. I really like the look of the polished kleins ;)

There's no reason not to anodise a frame other than cost I guess. GT used to do it to good effect. You just have to remember that with anodising the key is the quality of the finish on the alloy. I if you want shiny, then you've got to polish the metal to a good finish.

The welds may not anodize the same colour as the tubes.
Depends on the filler rod used during welding. Or something.

Don't ask me for further info - I'm just repeating "knowledge" from the www.
You could ask Brant at On-One though - some of their first batch of Scandium frames had to be painted rather than anodized for this reason.

Have you considered Hammerite? 8)
