As some of you know, I've had a Zaskar from year dot. It was the sole use bike so it had to be roadie, MTB, shopper, commuter etc. Roles it took on and mastered in the only way a sole bike can. Bits wearing out and breaking etc.
Anyway, fast forward to the present day and after many moons of sourcing good quality M730 parts it was destined to be a wall hanger, only taken out now and again.
Last night I had a 32 mile on/ off road trip in front of me - what bike do I use? The Norman? Perfect! If the bloody wheels had turned up in time. Overbury's? Nah, too slow on the road sections. Dyna tech? Hmm...
Then my glance happened on the trusty GT. Freshly built wheels, puncture repaired and just waiting for the right moment.
Wow. I'd forgotten what a good frame this was, that sensation of peddling with zero flex and actually feeling the tyre grip into the tarmac. Off road and climbing the slopes we call hills around here reminded me that this is how all bikes should feel like after 17 years of development. Sadly they dont.
But, hey, thats a different argument - I was out cycling, happy and about to go and meet friends and get hopelessly drunk.
It was like being 18 again and off to my mates for cider....
Expect to see more of the GT out and about.
