A step into the unknown MBK Pro Racer 11

In all honesty LGF, I would have been with you about a BSA BB for a mass produced MBK where marketing men could stick their ore in.

But this is built in the dark depths in the belly of the machine with engineers and technicians who had a different mission. Still at a period where men where men. Smoked Gualoises, had a two hour lunch and got tanked up enough to go till 19:00. Wore original denim covered in oil and swarf before Levis made it trendy. Pre-EU and god damn it, if a high end frame was going to be built on French soil, then god damn it will have French threads like the year before! Shimano was just something not to take too seriously back then either.

Thinking it had a mismatch of Record and Athena gruppo back in the day. I actually like the little hack so you could mate a JIS crankset.

Going forward with this will be interesting. But for sure, those Campag cups with French threads are not automatically for the bin!

Not sure what thread the fork is yet, an already well rounded headset was an arse to remove. The identical replacement struggles to go on.

The 600 cranks have older chainrings fitted, the previous generation golden arrow or arabesque style.

The Campagnolo seat post is very light but is also peeling on the top plate so needs work

The Dura Ace front mech had some almost professional looking copper bands to protect the frame from the mech - but maybe to bump the seat tube size up so it can fit properly
