Depending on the paint, they all have different recommended distances. Some spray. Bike colours are 15-20cm others are 30cm. I’ve just clear coated a frame this afternoon and that was 40cm

It makes quite a difference. Montana have a QR code on the can which should give you more details. spray. Bike have it on their website. Some have it on the can itself.

Sounds daft, but I always do a ‘dry run’ with a ruler before I start to get and accurate idea of what 20cm is (for example) it also helps alert to to bits where you are at risk of hitting the object you are spraying

If you were just spraying a flat object it would be easier than bike frames and forks where you have more intricate areas to consider to get good coverage. It is not as easy to keep the same distance in all areas, but that is just my inexperience talking!
