A no holds barred 'why I dont like' thread.

1. Anyone aged over 12 riding a bike on the pavement (usually mountain bikes). There's no excuse for it at all. If you're scared of riding on the road don't ride a bike.

2. Using should of, could of, would of etc. instead of should have, could have, would have etc. It's not English, doesn't make sense and its use is increasing on this forum (my tenuous reason for including it in this thread).

Rant over, now for that cup of tea.

1. I can think of a few gud 1 or 2 mile strips of pavement that wont have a pedestrian down 'em for 48hrs....with the adjoining traffic transposing its/themselves into Le Mans racers cause of the adjoining scenery (aint nature a funny one).....gud job 'there's no excuse for it' is only an opinion.

2. Whilst the grammar mistakes seem very real....i've noticed folk willing to overlook them when closing onto a a cheap P20 on a wet wednesday in Darlington.

I'm never keen on folk telling me about me ( ) bar ends, they've always got derbys, never want a reet royal race for proper monies and never ever answer when i've finally had enough and ask 'em can they paraglide....i dont like that, they make unsolicited comment and then go deaf & dumb on ya, up to n'gud if you ask me.

full suss downhillers being used for trail (never has it been so easy for disposable income nobs to justify why they dont play badminton anymore. look at me on my trek fuel 9.9 and full carbon lid on the back of my audi a4 company car going to the trail center to stick my 4 grand bike outside the caff and drink some coffee with my sixsixone pads on, no mud mind)

Haha    - so true!!!

1. People you see in a bike shop, about to pay for the most expensive MTB in there but without the first fecking clue about it whatsoever.
"Look at me, I have money, I must have the most expensive toy to impress my friends down the pub with, I will let the bike shop set it up, and then I'll NEVER touch the settings ever again"..

2. Elitists
This forum (as with any other) has it's fair share. Just because you have a more exclusive/expensive bike, doesn't make you a better person.

3. Garage Queens
You don't have to abuse it to use it!

A tongue in cheek vent your spleen here, why do you not like a specific brand or model or component...

I dont want any arguments, just why you dont like them. If you want to argue, start your own thread as to why you do like something

All GT's (except the Zaskar)

On the steel frames, that extra triangle seems to act like a pivot making the back end wobblier than a Kirk Revolution... Then theres the lower alu models, jeeeze! Bloody things are like riding concrete, no life in them whatsoever.

Kona's

They are lovely to look at, sure, but again and again and again and again? Like the MGB GT is to the classic car world, they are a cheap and easy way back into the retro scene but, Konas! Phaaasaands of 'em!

Ringle

Definitely garage queen stuff, it fades, it cracks and it only looks good on a Yeti, hidden from direct sunlight and never, ever ridden...

Klein Klien Kline

If ever there was a more contentious brand of bicycle, forever causing arguments, trans Atlantic feuds and international nit picking contests. Kinda puts one off a brand...

Rock Shox MAG20/21

Mine never worked! Either they spurted oil back in my face or they sagged straight to the end stops. Could never get the buggers right. then there was the flaky paint, corrosion, threaded brake studs and finally the flex - 'steering to the left, Sir? Book an appointment, we can fit you in a week Tuesday'.

Spleen vented.

For now.

I really, really don't like improper use of apostrophe's.

People who are involved in these sort of forums, that ask about, then seem incapable of taking on the most basic of bike maintenance tasks, and just chuck it at a bike shop to sort out.

Some tasks - fair enough, difficult, maybe a fair investment in terms of tools and such - but some jobs are just general maintenance, and there's something to be gained by going through a little frustration to get it right - after all, there's rarely an LBS slap bang in the middle of your off-road ride.

Bikes photographed in studios.

Worse still though are bikes pictured apparently en plein air but without pedals! (mainly in magazine ads- Trek etc)
