A boy left his bike locked to a tree in 1914

My GF sent me this... great picture!

"A little midget fella was being picked on by workmates who hung his bike out of arm's reach in the fork of a tree's trunk in 1954. Try as he might to reach it, the tree although growing upward very slowly grew faster than the wee man. Having not had ladder or health and safety training the little bloke had to abandon his bike, leaving the tree no choice but to grow around the it."

To this day when you see a pair of 70's or 80's trainers aging slowly over a telegraph wire spare a thought for Davey Dynamite who suffered at the hands of bullys.

so working on this logic, if I make a metal frame now, stick it around an oak tree a dozen foot up in the air and leave it for 30 / 40 years, my grandchildren will have the foundation & chassis for an awesome treehouse!


i'm off to the scrap pile to see if there is anything worth sticking in a tree!
