97 Ku build & now a 98 Ku

Made a start on actually assembling these two. Mainly to find a direction , work out what I need and also actually make some progress.

The 97 is going to be mainly silver parts - M739 , middleburn , SID and likely some X517 wheels or Crossmax.

The 98 is going with black parts as much as possible. Brakes may end up being changed to XTR. Wheels will be Crossmax and it’s likely going to be m950.

I’ve decided to go with a 98 Z2 in this striking metallic red colour to complement the green sparkle in the frame. Thomson stem and post , and hopefully some black Raceface when I get some.

I can’t lie that pressing the CK into this frame made me very nervous even with a slight mod to it.

The skinwalls behind it are actually destined to be used. I just need to find some more Crossmax as these are off my F3000sl.

Yeh I was super careful. Lots of checking and slow progress. The cup has had the relief channel added so hopefully will be fine


The 97 headset i was more concerned about cracks. As obviously the material is well known to crack on other brands too.

I actually turned the headset cups down so they press in by hand.

Didn’t you play around with a green pair of Wildgrippers with this one.

I actually think they worked, biscuit or white would be best imho (but the greens were cool too).

Really like the Mk1 Crossmax….

Yeh they've found there way onto my LTS now.

My plan is to go crossmax with smoke/dart on the orange one as.
